Yes it is after Labor Day and yes I am wearing white. Not wearing white after Labor Day is a fashion rule that I am definitely okay with breaking. Some of my favorite fall and winter outfits involve cozy white or cream sweaters and white denim (I have these in my cart now!) It is still in the mid-upper 80s most days in September here in Georgia so it still definitely feels like summer for most of the day. You will be seeing me in fall and winter whites for sure this season!
This white one shoulder ruffle top is just so fun and can easily be dressed up or down. I came across this top at TJ Maxx and it was only $16! I linked a few options in the widget below for under $25. I even found a long sleeve version that will be great for fall!
These Blank NYC flares fit me like a glove and are the perfect length for taller girls! If you’re shorter, then you can easily wear some wedges so they don’t drag the ground. The best part about them – they are pull on! No buttons to fuss with, but they still have functional pockets. These exact ones are selling out fast and are only available in limited sizes so I linked another pair that is similar, but are real jeans that button.
What about you? Do you love wearing white after Labor Day?
I wanted to share a little life update with you guys. Most of you are new around here, but if you have been following me for any length of time you know that my husband, Zack, and I just moved to a brand new city. Even before we got married almost 3 years ago, Zack has always wanted to go back to school for his MBA. He finally decided to take a leap of faith and apply to 3 top-tier MBA programs in Georgia. He was accepted into all 3 programs and was even offered 2 full rides! It was absolutely a dream come true for us.
We ultimately decided on the University of Georgia in Athens, GA but that meant moving about 2 hours away. The idea of letting go of our very first home was an emotional one. This was our first home together that we made so many memories in. Experiencing our first year of marriage, putting up our first Christmas trees (yes, plural because you can never have too many), bringing home our first rescue puppy (and then quickly bringing home another one because Maverick needed a sister), cooking so many dinners together in our first kitchen (and burning a few frozen pizzas along the way), snuggling up on the couch to binge watch Lost… so many sweet memories. But we quickly had to put the house up for sale and start looking for a place to live in our new town. IT WAS A WHIRLWIND! To be honest, it was so hard to find time to even be emotional while staging and prepping our home to sell.
We loved our first home so much that we wanted to capture some last memories we could hold onto so we asked our good friend to come and shoot an in-home session for us! She did an absolutely incredible job capturing our love for our first home and our love for each other. The photos I’m sharing today are so special because they include our 2 wild fur children, Maverick and Millie. Mav is the big black and white handsome boy and Millie is the little white one with the big ears (and even bigger attitude….she gets it from me *hair flip*). When Zack and I were scrolling through these pictures for the first time we just burst into tears when we saw the pictures of our babies! #crazydogparents
Eventually I will share the rest of the photos from the shoot, but there were so many to choose from I decided to divide them into different posts. We are happily moved in to our new home here in Athens and couldn’t be happier. We have fallen so in love with our new town. The couple that ended up buying our old home were a perfect fit! We hope they end up loving it as much as we did!
Thank you to our sweet friend Sarah for making it possible for us to hold onto these memories of our first home.
Well if it isn’t Monday again… this weekend was a whirlwind! This past Saturday was well-spent with friends and family for both my husband’s and our little one year old niece’s birthdays. Squeezing two different birthday parties made for a very long (and tiring) day, but it was so worth it! Yesterday, I don’t think I moved from the couch and I am okay with that. I definitely needed a day to rest and catch up on Reign. Is anyone else obsessed with that show!? Just me? OK cool.
I really need to stop buying black and white stripes, but we all know that’s impossible! Big and bold stripes are my favorite for pattern mixing, but for this outfit I kept it really simple. This super soft tee with these boyfriend fit cutoffs is a perfect easy outfit to throw on for the weekend. So funny story about these particular cutoffs…I can never seem to find loose fitting shorts that are long enough for my liking so I actually ended up DIYing these. I wanted the “ONETeaspoon look” ( you know what I’m talking about….the denim diaper 😉 )without the lack of material and without the steep price. I ended up purchasing these shorts from Charlotte Russe 2 whole sizes bigger than I normally buy and cuffing the outside seams. This makes the shorts so flattering!
I sure hope this week goes by quickly…Zack starts his MBA program orientation this week so I will have to get used to being at home by myself again! Have a good week, xo!
