Last month I shared some work wear must haves, but I didn’t really touch on the perfect bag. I think what makes the best bag for the office is if it’s lightweight, structured, and large enough to hold all my lipsticks (so not necessary), laptop, notebook, planner (because I need both *eyeroll*), water bottle, collection of pens, umbrella in case of rain, flats in case my cute (but not comfy) heels starts to hurt my feet, some snacks if I get hungry…you know, just the essentials! Your work bag should be a carry-all. Most of us are on the go trying to make meetings, running to grab some lunch, or meeting the girls for dinner after clocking out.
My favorite bags I carry to the office are Saffiano leather. They’re easy to care for, super structured, and waterproof! Great, functional bags don’t have to be boring! They can be cute too 🙂 I think the perfect tote for the office has both personality and functionality.
Most of the bags I’ve chosen are under $100, but I definitely think a great staple bag for the office is worth a little splurge. My Tory Burch tote (featured in this post, similar here) is my career professional bag and I absolutely love it! Another one of my go-to’s is my Neverfull! I’ve linked my picks for you in the widget below!
What are you looking for in the our perfect office bag?
Lip products have not always been at the top of my list, but lately I have been finding myself wandering the lipstick aisles of beauty stores trying to find the perfect pink shade that works with my skin tone. I am SO picky when it comes to my lipsticks and glosses. The formula has to be smooth, hydrating, and the perfect shade of pink. Does such a lip product exist? Sounds like a unicorn to me….
And while the perfect lip product may not exist, I have several lip products in my bag that may come very close to perfect.
MAC Lipstick Satin in Snob: This is literally the perfect pink when you want just a little bit of color. It’s such a beautiful light neutral pink and goes on so smooth.
NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick: I have been using these pretties for years! If I am stumped on what color lippy to wear I always go for the NYX Harmonica (light baby pink). I’ve also been loving the color Power because it’s fun and a little funky. And you can’t beat the $4 price tag.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick: This formula is amazing! Like any liquid lipstick, it can be a tad bit drying. I layer this on top of the GrandeLips I talked about earlier and it doesn’t dry out as badly. But this stuff wears ALLLLL day long. I went through an entire day at the office AND volleyball practice with my bright pink shade and my girls got a good laugh out of it. But this shade is SO pretty for fair skin tones and wears great in the fall!
Cargo Lip Gloss: I got this gloss in my Ipsy subscription SO long ago and I still use it. I am on my second tube (who actually finishes a full tube of gloss!?) I do when it’s this good! Anguilla is the pretty shade of baby pink and layers beautifully if you want to tone down a really bright color.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-shine Lip Lacquer: I think I’ve talked about this a million times on my Instagram but I. LOVE. THIS. STUFF. It’s a little translucent, a little pigmented and gives the perfect amount of shine. And it smells dreamy! Are you noticing a trend with my light pink lip colors? 🙂 This color is so soft and pretty! I think these are so worth the money.
Anyone else over the hot and sticky Georgia weather? I know I am definitely ready for fall! I am seeing so many cozy sweaters, cute booties, cardis, and scarves. If only we could wear them now…
There are so many ways you can wear some of these pieces now and later as the temps drop.
Layering My favorite way to take some of your summer pieces into fall is layering a lightweight cardigan over a tank. Here in Georgia we see warmer weather all the way through until October so I don’t break out the chunky knit cardigans until mid-October-November. This lightweight cardigan I am wearing above is the PERFECT transition piece and easy to throw on over so many outfits.
Bring out the booties I love to wear my booties with cutoff shorts and summer dresses! My outfit would be perfect with my new taupe booties I just bought but let’s be real…. it was over 90 degrees when we were shooting this look so these cute sandals worked perfectly. Which brings me to my next point…
Stretch out sandal season If you want to break out some heavier fall items like a new slouchy sweater and ripped denim, you can pair some sandals with them to make it a more transitional outfit.
Fall colors Light khaki green, tans, and whites are perfect for fall transition! I save my dark military greens, rusts, and deep mustardy yellows for when the temperature drops a little more.
I also wanted to talk a little bit about this tank top! It comes in 9 colors and is under $60 It is one of my very favorite layering pieces. I love to wear it under blazers, dusters, and kimonos and I can’t wait to wear it under cozy knits! I linked other cute cami options at different price points for you below.
What are some of your favorite ways to take your summer wardrobe into fall?
Zack and I had a much needed weekend together before school started (TODAY)! He let me drag him around a new part of town to shoot some looks for upcoming blog posts and we stumbled across a super cool new vintage store! Hip Vintage and Handmade recently opened right down the street from us and they showcase 100s of vendors and local artists. They hosted a”Secret Vinyl Swap” and Zack was so excited! We recently bought a vinyl record player and are already obsessed. We bought this one because its portable and has great built in speakers that we can hear all through the house. And yes, before you ask, I already bought the Moana soundtrack on vinyl and I am not ashamed 🙂
Not only did they have tons and tons of vintage vinyls, but all of their vendors set up booths and were selling some amazing vintage pieces. This little wicker bag in the post was one of the goodies I picked up from the store. I paid $6 for it and it was made in the 1960s! How awesome is that? I also found some beautiful silk printed scarves, 3 pairs of sunglasses, and earrings. Needless to say we will definitely be visiting again!
The little pins and patches actually came with this jacket, but I linked some for you to shop as well! I am always adding little pins to my blazers and jackets. I kept the rest of my outfit simple – this grey tee is SO soft and these heels are some of the most comfortable heels I own.
We love finding new and unique places to visit in our new city! The vintage shopping and thrift stores are amazing! What are some of your favorite items to thrift?
I wanted to share a little life update with you guys. Most of you are new around here, but if you have been following me for any length of time you know that my husband, Zack, and I just moved to a brand new city. Even before we got married almost 3 years ago, Zack has always wanted to go back to school for his MBA. He finally decided to take a leap of faith and apply to 3 top-tier MBA programs in Georgia. He was accepted into all 3 programs and was even offered 2 full rides! It was absolutely a dream come true for us.
We ultimately decided on the University of Georgia in Athens, GA but that meant moving about 2 hours away. The idea of letting go of our very first home was an emotional one. This was our first home together that we made so many memories in. Experiencing our first year of marriage, putting up our first Christmas trees (yes, plural because you can never have too many), bringing home our first rescue puppy (and then quickly bringing home another one because Maverick needed a sister), cooking so many dinners together in our first kitchen (and burning a few frozen pizzas along the way), snuggling up on the couch to binge watch Lost… so many sweet memories. But we quickly had to put the house up for sale and start looking for a place to live in our new town. IT WAS A WHIRLWIND! To be honest, it was so hard to find time to even be emotional while staging and prepping our home to sell.
We loved our first home so much that we wanted to capture some last memories we could hold onto so we asked our good friend to come and shoot an in-home session for us! She did an absolutely incredible job capturing our love for our first home and our love for each other. The photos I’m sharing today are so special because they include our 2 wild fur children, Maverick and Millie. Mav is the big black and white handsome boy and Millie is the little white one with the big ears (and even bigger attitude….she gets it from me *hair flip*). When Zack and I were scrolling through these pictures for the first time we just burst into tears when we saw the pictures of our babies! #crazydogparents
Eventually I will share the rest of the photos from the shoot, but there were so many to choose from I decided to divide them into different posts. We are happily moved in to our new home here in Athens and couldn’t be happier. We have fallen so in love with our new town. The couple that ended up buying our old home were a perfect fit! We hope they end up loving it as much as we did!
Thank you to our sweet friend Sarah for making it possible for us to hold onto these memories of our first home.
