Ever since Zack started his MBA program, date nights have become very special. I work at home and am usually by myself (with the pups of course) most of the time. He has class from early in the morning and usually events late at night. When he gets home we shovel down some food and he’s back at it with homework and applying for internships.

We used to go out to eat all the time during the week and especially on weekends, but we just don’t have the time to do that consistently anymore. Now when he says he’s taking me on a date it’s treat! I take a little more time in picking out what I wear AND sometimes even do my hair 😂

This simple black top has the sweetest little neckline and sleeve details! I picked it up from my local Ross for $7.99! WHATTT crazy right? I love wearing black, but I like my black tops to have a little bit of sass to them: lace details, ruffles, interesting silhouettes, or peplums. Since I can’t link my top I linked some super pretty options in the widget below for you to shop! Most of them are perfect for a fall date night 🙂

I am so very proud of Zack for all the work he has put into this program so far. He’s the hardest working man I know and I know it’s because he wants to make a difference and I have no doubt that he will. There have been sacrifices made by both of us and there will continue to be, but I have full faith that the Lord has a plan and that this will be 110% worth after the 2 years!

I think the #1 question that I get asked is who does my hair. The second is how I keep it so blonde when only get it done once or twice a year. If you have color treated blonde hair, you absolutely HAVE to have some purple toning products in your hair care regimen. I have several must-have products I use weekly and I highly recommend all of them! My hair is naturally very, very dark and I wanted a soft, blended ombre into icy, dull grey-blonde. It is so difficult to achieve if you have dark hair, but my hair surprisingly lightened up very easily.

At first, I didn’t use any purple toning products and my hair started to turn a little brassy and I wasn’t as happy with it. I went to my nearest Ulta and stocked up!

Blonde Sexy Hair Blonde Shampoo

Blonde Sexy Hair Blonde Shampoo: I was looking for a few things in my purple shampoo: dark purple pigment, moisturizing, and sulfate-free. This shampoo is AMAZING. I have heard that toning shampoos can really dry out your hair, but with this one that isn’t the case! It leaves my hair SO insanely soft. It’s a bit pricey, but I have had this same bottle for almost a year now (side note: I only wash my hair once or twice a week so it lasts me forever).

Kenra Professional Brightening Treatment

Kenra Professional Brightening Treatment: I ran to Ulta as soon as this stuff came out and it is my FAVE toning product. The pigment is so dark it is almost black and it really does make a huge difference! After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I put this on only the end (since my blonde is only at the ends) and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. I just put on some Moana and JAM while I let this stuff work its magic! 🙂

Pravana The Perfect Blonde Leave-In Treatment

Pravana The Perfect Blonde Leave-In Treatment: I have talked about this stuff before in this post here and it really is that awesome. After I get out of the shower and brush my hair, I spray the generously on the ends and then blow dry it. One time I accidentally skipped a week and I really noticed some brassy tones starting to peek through. Make sure you shake the bottle well before every use!

I will sometimes substitute my Kenra toning treatment for this treatment since I bought both and they’re both pretty comparable in price and work well. I have heard amazing things about this purple toning blow out balm but it is a really tiny bottle for $10. If I end up testing it I will let you guys know! I use a combo of all of these products every hair wash to make sure my hair stays icy blonde and my hair really has never been healthier!

What are some of your favorite toning products?

Let’s talk work wear! I think some of my favorite items in my closet are my blazers. They are so versatile. I love throwing them over simple dresses to wear to the office and even  wearing them over a dainty cami and cut off jean shorts. When I have an important meeting at the office I automatically reach for one of my blazers. They make me feel professional, put together, and so confident!

This blush blazer is gorgeous and has the perfect boyfriend fit.  I prefer my blazers to be slightly oversized because I think it is easier to dress them down. I found this one on a clearance rack at Macy’s, but found a couple of options that are almost identical and linked them below.

Let’s talk about these pants really quick…. yes they are truly pants! They may look and feel like leggings (which are the best kind of pants in my opinion) but they button, have side seams, have pockets, AND are on sale for under $35! They are perfect for all-day comfort at the office and can easily be dressed down for happy hour. Every girl needs a pair of legging dress pants in their closet!

Have a great rest of your week! Who else is ready for the long weekend this weekend? *insert hand raised emoji here*

Trending: The Deconstructed Shirt and How to Wear It

A trend that has been ruling the runways and the street since this past spring is the deconstructed shirt trend. A deconstructed shirt is essentially the beloved classic button down shirt that has been re-worked to create something new and exciting.

I don’t think this trend is going anywhere soon and this season’s button ups are far from basic. Don’t be intimidated by the cut-outs, ruffles, dramatic sleeves, and asymmetrical hems! You can so rock this trend and still look effortlessly chic 😉

There are so many ways you can embrace the deconstructed trend:

Wear it with jeans
I paired my top with this clean pair of white denim, but to dress this look down even more add some great ripped denim or jeans with a frayed or uneven hem.

Add some drama
Whether it be an asymmetrical hem, ruffles, or dramatic sleeve there are so many ways you can really make a statement with a twist a classic.

Go oversized
There is nothing I love more than taking a trend and making it oversized! You can eat whatever you want and no one will ever know 🙂
